Bradfield Scheme A Distraction, Not Solution

Comments about reinvigorating the Bradfield Scheme are a distraction, and not a solution.

While it may make interesting reading, and create content for our 24 hour news cycle, it conveniently ignores the elephant in the room.

It is because of past and current farming practices that we are in the predicament that we are in now.

Pumping water from anywhere, while we are still treating the land with contempt will only be a band-aid solution.

If the Palaszczuk Government was serious about solving the water crisis that we are in, they would repeal the Water (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2008, and get back to managing water themselves.

The Palaszczuk Government should also help those who are in water intensive industries to transition away from them, and into a more water friendly one.

Failing to do so would be akin to putting stick tape on a leaking fuel tank.

A far better option for Queensland, and our environment is to transition farmers away from animal agriculture, and into other areas.

The longer we delay this, the harder it will be to recover. If this is even possible.
